Enjoy the peace and the beautiful view that you will have from our farm.
There are numerous attractions, sights,
cultural highlights and athletic activities.
A HOLIDAY AT THE FARM
Home to 1 pony, cows, goats (cows and goats are on the mountain pasture during the summer)
pigs, 1 dog, chickens, guinea pigs and cats; an unforgettable experience for your children and thus,
a DREAM HOLIDAY for parents and grandparents as well.
Horseback riding is very popular at our farm.
Matrei in Osttirol
Anyone who drives north through Eastern Tyrol or leaves the Felbertauern tunnel in the south will be met with a view of the High Tauern’s mighty peak.
featuring a distinct Alpine
character.
Matrei is at 1000m above sea level
and has an area of 27,778
km².
It is located in the middle of 60 3,000 metre peaks,
among them the Grossglockner (3798m above sea level) and
the Grossvenediger (3674m above sea level).
The hard, day-to-day life of mountain
farms in their
traditional lifestyle can still be seen on the southern hills
or steep mountain flanks on
remote hillsides.
Some Matrei natives, such as farmers or craftsmen, have always served the tourism sector, giving guests easy access to their domestic culture and lifestyle.
Ancient customs and comfortable
accommodations offer the ideal conditions for
a stay in Matrei.

The Church of St. Nicholas is a unique, 800-year-old jewel among the sacred buildings of the Eastern Alps.
Our attractions include our St. Alban parish church, Tyrol’s second-largest church, dedicated to Holy St. Alban.
There are also many leisure activities such as horseback riding, tennis, mini-golf, curling, rafting, swimming, and skiing!
Needless to say, this area is also very well-suited for winter
tourism. In 1989, the new
8-passenger single-cable gondola lift went into operation.
It transports you to the Goldried ski resort
in just 8 minutes!
Furthermore, there was a
great deal of discussion on
how the ski resort could be
expanded
and therefore, after almost 30 years of intensive
efforts, the “Matrei/Kals” ski lift system, a “centennial project”, was opened with great fanfare in December 2008.
With over 110 runway kilometres, the “Großglockner Resort” is Eastern Tyrol’s
largest ski resort. The Matrei municipality offers guests
an 8-passenger single-cable gondola lift, two modern six-person chair lifts with a weather protection hood and seat heating, a four-seat chair lift with a weather protection hood and two ski lifts. They have a total transportation capacity of roughly 10,000 persons per hour. The Kalser municipality offers an additional seven cableways, among them a modern 8-passenger single-cable gondola lift. From here, you can get an impressive panorama with a view of the Großglockner and 60 3,000 metre peaks.
The Europe panorama trail is a walking promenade located 2200m above sea level,
it’s even suited for those who cannot keep pace in a
high-elevation tour.
