The rustic, very cosy "Almhütte Troadkasten Strobl" is situated in a secluded location at 1300 m above sea level in Zödl am Laufenberg, in the middle of the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve. 

This Troadkasten, lovingly renovated in 2024 and dating back to 1677, is the ideal place to relax and slow down, as well as the perfect starting point for hikes, bike tours and excursions in the Millstättersee region. 

A fantastic panoramic view of the Gegendtal valley, the Nockberge mountains, Lake Brennsee and the Karawanken mountains awaits you. 

One of our guests' favourite spots is the wooden terrace under the old lime tree with hand-carved larch table, barbecue, wicker swing and hammock. 

Another special feature of our silent retreat oasis is the self-carved wooden fountain with first-class drinking water quality from our own mountain spring. 

In the comfortable farmhouse parlour, a warming fire crackles in the wood-burning stove. Next to the spacious corner bench with its home-made dining table, the almost 100-year-old bed from the former Großglockner house invites you to chill out.

The bedroom in the attic upstairs is inviting, with a cosy double bed made of oiled wild oak and the antique wedding bed from great-grandmother Theresia, founder of the Strobl bakery in Afritz.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a retro electric cooker, integrated oven, plenty of crockery, pots and pans, as well as a filter- and Italian coffee machine, toaster and kettle.

The fridge with freezer compartment, as well as the fresh spring water that is turned into hot water from the washing-up tap, are a real luxury for the 350-year-old Troadkasten. 

Just like the new extension made of fragrant larch wood from our own forest, where you will find a shower with underfloor heating and a separate restroom.

You will be enchanted by the many different moods that nature presents you with every day up here. Sometimes a puffy cloud cover in the valley. A bright blue, cloudless sky as far as the horizon. A fantastic sunrise over the Nockalm in the east. Breathtakingly beautiful sunset over the Karawanken. An impressive starry sky with a sea of lights in the valley. And romantic drifting snow with freshly snow-covered deep snow slopes in winter.

The "Strobl-Alm" in Zödl am Laufenberg is a special spot for your extraordinary break from everyday life.
